Six months ago I watched our neighbors down the street build a beautiful new fence around their yard.
As they built it, I noticed they were not setting new posts. Instead, they simply removed the old fence boards and putting up new ones.
After our windstorm two nights ago, you can see in the picture above what happens.
When you only worry about making changes to the surface and don’t take the time to rebuild the deeper foundational pieces, the first trial or struggle that comes along will knock you on your butt.
It’s not fun digging up fence posts. I know. I’ve rebuilt several fences. It’s tiring, grueling work. But work that is well worth the extra effort. (Plus, if you don’t do the work up front, you end up spending twice as much time rebuilding your fences).
